2025 Benefit Increase 02/26/25 - PBC Firefighters Retirement Insurance Fund The Board of Trustees met on February 7, 2025, and approved an increase in benefits for all retirees—past, present, and future—effective January 1, 2025. This enhancement will provide an additional three hundred dollars ($300.00) per month to retirees. Additionally, the Board has approved another increase of the same amount ($300.00 per month) for 2026.

2024 Toys For Tots Registration 10/14/24 - Bonita Springs Fire Control & Rescue District Registration for the 2024 Bonita Springs Toys for Tots program is now open. Families can begin registering to receive gifts starting Tuesday, November 12th at the Bonita Springs Assistance Office (25300 Bernwood Drive). Parents are required to bring a valid ID with proof of Bonita Springs residency and birth certificates for each child.

Medal for Heroism 05/17/22 - South Trail Fire and Rescue District Medal for Heroism! Captain/Paramedic Shawn Robinson was awarded a Medal for Heroism from the The National Society of the Sons of American Revolution in Naples. Fl. today. Capt. Robinson and Engineer Dennis Kerr, North Collier Fire & Rescue, were recognized for their outstanding bravery and self-sacrifice in the face of imminent danger. On September 27, 2024, at approximately 8:40 am, while deployed with US&R Task Force 6 in Charlotte County during Hurricane Helene, Captain Robinson and Engineer Kerr were assigned the task of search and marking structures in a manufactured home community. They noticed a nearby column of smoke and immediately went to investigate. They found a manufactured home with fire conditions and a neighbor stating that a resident had gone back inside. Robinson and Kerr immediately conducted a search and spotted an unconscious person under a burning car port. They crawled into the area and rescued the victim, placed him in their UTV and transferred care to a Charlotte County medic unit. South Trail Fire & Rescue is very proud that our very own Captain/Medic earned such a prestigious award, and that our brother Engineer Dennis Kerr, his team member that day, earned one also. Always putting in the work!

10th Year in a Row! 10/19/21 - South Trail Fire and Rescue District South Trail was pleased to receive the TIPS 5,000 grant award from Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust today from ADA Coordinator Pam Hancock! Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust TIPS Matching Grant—The District applied for and received safety-related grant in the amount of $5,000. To receive the funding, the District must expend $10,000 during the current fiscal year on a safety or training-related program and then submit that program for consideration by the insurance underwriter. This is the tenth consecutive year the District has received this grant award.
